Solutions to lubricating oil problems in agricultural equipment

Solutions to lubricating oil problems in agricultural equipment
Case Details
一、Analysis of Common Problems with Lubricating Oil for Agricultural Equipment
(1) Lubrication failure
Agricultural equipment is constantly exposed to complex outdoor environments that are dusty, damp and muddy. During operation, there is significant vibration and frequent load changes, which can easily lead to the contamination of lubricating oil, causing problems such as oxidation and emulsification, and ultimately resulting in lubrication failure. For instance, during farmland operations, impurities such as sand and dust in the soil may mix into the lubricating oil, accelerating the wear of components.
(2) Poor low-temperature fluidity
In cold regions, the winter temperature is relatively low. At low temperatures, the viscosity of some lubricating oil increases and its fluidity deteriorates, making it unable to reach the parts that need lubrication in time. This leads to difficulties in starting the equipment and increases wear.
(3) Insufficient high-temperature stability
During the hot summer or when agricultural equipment is in continuous operation for a long time, the temperature of its engines, gearboxes and other parts rises. Ordinary lubricating oil may become thinner due to high temperatures, resulting in a decrease in the strength of the oil film and an inability to effectively protect the components, leading to faults such as burning bearing shells and seizing shafts.
(4) Improper selection
The working conditions and lubrication requirements of different agricultural equipment vary greatly. If the type and specification of lubricating oil are not properly selected, the lubrication requirements of the equipment cannot be met, which will affect the normal operation and service life of the equipment.
二、Solutions to Lubricating Oil Problems
(1) Correct selection
Selection should be based on the type of equipment: For engines, engine oil with good oxidation resistance, deterrence and dispersion, and anti-wear performance should be chosen, such as API (American Petroleum Institute) grades SJ, SL, SM, etc. For transmission components such as gearboxes and gearboxes, gear oil with appropriate viscosity and extreme pressure and anti-wear performance should be selected. The hydraulic system should use anti-wear hydraulic oil to ensure the cleanliness and anti-emulsification performance of the oil.
Consider the working environment: In cold regions, choose lubricating oil with good low-temperature fluidity and low pour point, such as multi-grade engine oil with the "W" mark (indicating winter oil use), like 5W-30, 10W-40, etc. In high-temperature environments, lubricating oil with a high viscosity index and good high-temperature stability should be selected to ensure that a stable oil film can still be formed at high temperatures.
Follow the manufacturer's advice: Strictly select the lubricating oil model and specification recommended in the agricultural equipment user manual. Do not replace or use lubricating oil that does not meet the requirements at will.
(2) Strengthen the management of usage and maintenance
Regular inspection and replacement: Establish a complete lubricating oil inspection and replacement system. Check the oil level, color, viscosity and other indicators of the lubricating oil according to the cycle specified in the equipment operation manual. When the lubricating oil deteriorates, is contaminated or has reached the replacement cycle, replace it in time. At the same time, when changing the lubricating oil, make sure that the old oil is completely drained and the lubrication system is cleaned to prevent residual impurities from contaminating the new oil.
Prevent contamination: When adding lubricating oil, use clean tools and containers to avoid the mixture of impurities. Keep the lubrication parts of the equipment well sealed to prevent dust, moisture, soil, etc. from entering the lubrication system. Regularly clean the dirt and debris on the surface of the equipment to reduce the chance of contaminants entering.
Control the working temperature: Reasonably arrange the operation time and load of agricultural equipment to avoid the equipment running for a long time at high temperatures. When the equipment temperature is too high, it should be shut down in time for cooling. Check whether the heat dissipation system is working properly to ensure that the lubricating oil functions within the appropriate temperature range.
三、Adopt advanced lubrication technologies and products
1. Use synthetic lubricating oil: Synthetic lubricating oil has excellent properties, such as good low-temperature fluidity, high-temperature stability, oxidation resistance and anti-wear performance. It can adapt to the complex working environment of agricultural equipment, extend the service life of the equipment and reduce maintenance costs. Although synthetic lubricating oil is relatively expensive, in the long run, its comprehensive benefits are more significant.
2. Application of intelligent lubrication system: The intelligent lubrication system can automatically and precisely supply lubricating oil to the lubrication points based on the operating status and working conditions of the equipment, avoiding the waste and over-lubrication of lubricating oil. At the same time, it can monitor the status of the lubricating oil in real time, promptly identify problems and issue alarms, thereby enhancing the reliability and maintenance efficiency of the equipment.
